Newbie to Blogging

I thought I'd try blogging - I suppose it's another way of communicating - does anyone use this as a business tool?? I could use some input on this painting - have a long way to go.. I'm wondering if the background is too much? I wanted something vibrant because it's a young girl but am wondering if it needs to be toned down.
