A happy painting of a Tuscan Farm with a Sunflower Field. I have always been drawn to sunflowers in landscapes. They are big, bright and cheerful and add a certain joy to many landscape paintings. While touring Tuscany I captured many scenes of the countryside and this is one.
I am a traditional oil painter from Bucks County, PA, a wonderful area steeped with history. I maintain a contemporary practice dealing with contemporary topics; however, I am consumed by my fascination with oil paint, which has come to dominate my production. I work with significant emphasis on layering and underpainting. I have a strong appreciation for traditional subjects, and my work usually consists of landscape and figurative works.. I do not seek to make bold social commentary in my work, or to make statements about our rapidly changing world, so much as to preserve and foster an appreciation for something a little quieter: beauty, transcendence, purpose, and consolation.
