Artist's Description
A potter working in her studio. Potters use their hands to create their art. They mix clay and rely on their fingertips to mold and shape a pot as it turns on the wheel. By pressing your thumbs on the center of a glob of clay, you work the clay upwards with your fingers, eventually forming the final shape of the piece. Once the piece is finished on the wheel, you turn to potters tools like rubber scrapers and sponges to smooth the surface. You may mix and apply a glaze to each piece before setting into a kiln to dry.
